Yorkshire born and educated, Stella left Barnsley College of Art after three years study to take a two year National Diploma Course in Design at Leicester College of Art and Technology.

In the early 70's Stella opened and ran her own boutique in Nottingham. However, overpowered by her love of animals, she gave up the world of fashion to devote all her time to helping her husband at their zoological gardens in Nottingham, where for five years she enjoyed her position as Director/Curator. Unfortunately, due to redevelopment, the lease on the 17 acre site was terminated and sadly the zoo animals were distributed to other Zoo's around the country.

Shortly after the zoo closed and heartbroken at the loss of her zoo family, Stella - along with her four children - joined friends in Kent. Then, in order to fill the enormous void left by the absence of her wild animal friends, Stella started to paint the animals she loved but could not keep.

She works mainly by commission, painting horses, dogs and cats in addition to her wild animals, working from photographs where necessary. Her paintings have gone to Ireland, Isle of Man, Australia, Arabia, to a Bull breeder in the United States and they are also on exhibition in Spain.

Stella is Director and Curator of Beaver Water World in Tatsfield, Kent, where amongst her charges is "Big Boy" the Giant Alligator, star of the James Bond 007 films. Stella is also a benefactor of the World-wide Fund for Nature.

Stella has currently completed an artists research and training course in Zimbabwe, Africa and has also climbed the temples of Belize in her quest for inspiration and new subjects to exhibit to the public.
