Due to the increasing burden of caring for rescued animals and expanding our educational programme, 'Beaver Zoological Gardens and Reptile Rescue' became a Registered Charity in 1997.

Our Charity is dedicated to the following aims :

To provide rescue facilities for unwanted reptiles and other animals.

To discourage the public from purchasing wild caught animals

To educate the public on the unsuitability of certain species as pets and encourage respect for reptiles

To build a lecture room suitable for school parties and youth groups so we can expand our educational programme

To extend our facilities so that we can work more closely with the R.S.P.C.A. and increase our reptile rescue work.

To promote conservation projects such as the Rain Forest Project in Belize which is protecting areas of Iguana habitat.

To work towards providing an animal hospital for reptiles where Vets specialising in this subject can train.

Our aim at Beaver Water World Reptile Zoo is to be a refuge - a Noah's Ark for rare and rescued reptiles, to ride out the storm of human persecution until they can be guaranteed a safe future in the wild.

Beaver Reptile Zoo has the ability to carry through a Captive Breeding Programme - ultimately our plan is to develop the site "behind the scenes", as certain reptiles are difficult to breed in Zoo's as they are nervous and resent disturbance.

We plan to try and create near natural conditions, in peaceful and secure surroundings. To establish this programme, no reptiles will ever be taken from the wild, as there are sufficient numbers existing in captivity, but many are not in breeding situations.

Due to habitat destruction or over trapping for the pet/fashion/far east medical trade, it will take many years for conservation to become effective.

Your support is really needed and greatly appreciated, as this will speed the development of our projects and of course help us to care for and feed our animals. We rely almost entirely on donations and fund raising, and are always trying to find new ways of raising money.
